Find the fraction (Find the total number )

 Hay,
Today in maths my maths group (Squares) we doing some fractions. I found this easy.

Mary has a bag of lollies in it. She gives 8 lollies to her friend Lucy, which is of the total number of lollies she had. How many lollies did she have in the bag at the beginning?

I think the full number is 32 because:

Half of 32 is 16

And half of 16 is 8 and that is ¼ of 32
